As part of an ongoing campaign to discredit the honest and diligent work of Alternative One founding members, misinformed individuals have been disseminating false information over the Internet regarding our non-profit status.
We are indeed registered as a non-profit entity with the state of Montana. However, due to the complicated process of obtaining the special 501(c) status required to make your donations tax deductible, we have not yet gained that status.
We have been too busy getting the facts out about the environmentally disastrous Montanore Mine proposal. We do this as a labor of love for Northwest Montana and the beautiful natural ecosystem we call home. We do not receive payment for the hours of time we put into our efforts against Montanore, nor are we asking for payment.
Any donations we receive contribute towards publicity for our cause. We hope that you will see the value in speaking out against corporate greed and defending environmental preservation. However, if you are donating for the sole purpose of getting a tax deduction, we recommend giving to Rock Creek Alliance, Earthworks, or the Clark Fork Coalition, all of which have established their 501(c) status.
